Fisheries and Biodiversity in the Western Indian Ocean
Launch of Institutional Committees in Mayotte, Réunion, and the Comoros
Between November 17 and December 4, 2025, BRIDGES directors visited three partner sites to launch Site Institutional Committees (CIS). These committees allow institutional actors to get involved in the program.
From November 3 to 8, 2025, BRIDGES funded and supported its very first field school, organized in Mayotte. This initiative, which will be repeated every two years, supports the momentum around the creation of a regional Indian Ocean Master's degree program led by the University of Mayotte, in conjunction with the University of Réunion.

A look back at the BRIDGES x DATA TERRA school in the Comoros in December 2025
From December 15 to 19, 2025, BRIDGES organized the second school in the BRIDGES x DATA TERRA series in the Comoros, dedicated to FAIR, ethical, and sustainable research data management for Open Science.
BRIDGES will fund at least nine three-year doctoral contracts, each with a research budget of €20,000.
The selected theses will contribute to one of the BRIDGES challenges and to advances in at least one of the workshop sites, or will propose inter-site approaches. Topics may fall within one or more disciplines, but the thesis cluster as a whole must be multidisciplinary. Future doctoral students will benefit from an integrated training program combining scientific training, personal development, and co-construction workshops.
