The first BRIDGES x WIOMSA school focused on interdisciplinarity |

Held in Mombasa from September 22 to 26, 2025, it brought together around 30 participants and speakers from 10 countries to discuss the resilience of marine socio-ecosystems in the WIO. Researchers, managers, doctoral students, and professionals explored the complexity of these systems together through a week of immersive training combining serious games, case studies, group work, and field trips. |

A look back at the 13th WIOMSA Scientific Symposium |

The 13th WIOMSA Scientific Symposium, which brought together more than 1,200 participants in Mombasa, was a major event for BRIDGES, offering high visibility for the program's activities and collaborations. With a busy booth, several scientific presentations, and an after-work gathering for the community, BRIDGES contributed fully to the discussions and energy of this major marine science event in the WIO. |

BRIDGES mission to Mayotte to meet and discuss with local scientific stakeholders |
|
From October 5 to 9, a BRIDGES team traveled to Mayotte to discuss with local scientific stakeholders their work and ongoing projects, their vision, and avenues for collaboration with BRIDGES in the coming years.
At the heart of the initiative was the desire to create an open space for dialogue to better understand how BRIDGES can best link up with existing initiatives and respond to local challenges. |

Call for PhD theses proposals opening |
|
BRIDGES will fund at least nine three-year doctoral contracts, each with a research budget of €20,000.
The selected theses will contribute to one of the BRIDGES challenges and to advances in at least one of the workshop sites, or will propose inter-site approaches. Topics may fall within one or more disciplines, but the thesis cluster as a whole must be multidisciplinary. Future doctoral students will benefit from an integrated training program combining scientific training, personal development, and co-construction workshops. |

Call for participation : Seminar on “Data, Methods, and Services for the Study of Coastal and Marine Socio-Ecosystems in Réunion” |
|
As part of the BRIDGES x DATA TERRA school in Reunion Island, a day of discussions will be held on December 12, 2025, focusing on four thematic sessions covering marine biodiversity, fishing, humanities and social sciences, and data integration tools. This meeting aims to promote the sharing of experiences, identify common needs, and strengthen collaborations for open, ethical, and sustainable science. |
