BRIDGES launches its call for thesis proposals for 2026!

Objective: to train a new generation of experts capable of understanding, managing, and transforming marine social-ecological systems in the southwestern Indian Ocean (SWIO).

BRIDGES will fund at least nine three-year doctoral contracts, each with a research budget of €20,000.

The selected theses will contribute to BRIDGES’ scientific challenges, anchored in local realities while opening up perspectives on global issues.

Multidisciplinary supervision, inter-institutional collaborations, and co-supervision with SWIO researchers are particularly encouraged.

Future doctoral students will benefit from an integrated training program combining scientific training, personal development, and co-construction workshops.

📅 Timeline:

Deadline for submitting topics: February 13, 2026 (12:00 p.m., CET)

Publication of results: March 31, 2026

Start of contracts: October 31, 2026 at the latest
